Born This Day In History 13th February

Celebrating Birthday's Today

Chuck Yeager

Born: Charles Elwood Yeager 13th February 1923 Lincoln County, West Virginia

Known For : Chuck Yeager is best known as a fighter pilot from World War II who flew a P-51 Mustang becoming a World War II decorated combat ace. After World War II he became a test pilot and became the first man in history to break the sound barrier on October 14, 1947, flying the experimental rocket-powered Bell X-1 at Mach 1. Following this record he continued to break many other speed and altitude records. During his time in the United States Air Force he received a number of medals including the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal. He is now a retired major general. He is an inspiration to many as unlike many pilots both then and now he attained greatness starting from a humble background and without a college education.

Oliver Reed

Born: Robert Oliver Reed 13th February 1938 Wimbledon, London, England

Died: 2nd May 1999 Valletta, Malta

Known For : Oliver Reed is best remembered for his acting career which included Oliver!, Women in Love, The Three Musketeers, Tommy, Lion of the Desert and Gladiator. He is also remembered sadly for his abuse of alcahol which cost him many starring roles due to his excessive drinking. Sadly when searching You Tube there are many more interviews featuring him drunk than those featuring his talent so I chose this tribute to his acting as the video.
