Known For : Sonny Bono is best remembered as one half of Sonny and Cher the American pop music, acting and married couple duo who were popular from 1964 to 1977 when they split ( the divorce was well publisised due to accusations of abuse in a nasty, very public divorce ). Cher went on to become one of the most popular and biggest-selling artists in the history of contemporary music. Sonny Bono went on to become an actor and later in 1995 became a U.S. House of Representatives for California's 44th district. He was killed in a skiing accident in 1998.
