Ayrton Senna

Born: Ayrton Senna da Silva, March 21st, 1960, São Paulo, Brazil

Died: May 1st, 1994, Bologna Italy


Known For : Formula 1 racing driver and three-time Formula One world champion and won 41 Formula 1 races. He was killed while racing at the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola. Like many to drivers he began career in karting and moved up the ranks eventually as a Formula 1 driver, during his F1 career he drove for Toleman, Lotus, McLaren and Williams. He is thought to be one of the greatest Formula One racing drivers of all time and in 2009 During a poll 217 current and former Formula One drivers chose Senna as their greatest Formula One driver, in a survey conducted by British magazine Autosport. Following his death in 1994 it was discovered that he had donated millions of dollars of his personal fortune to children's charities and unlike many in the public eye kept his charitable donations very private, which gives an idea of the character of the man who wanted to win but also believed in helping others.
